Control Private DNS on Android
Switch providers, toggle Private DNS from Quick Settings, and pause it on Wi-Fi networks you choose. ADNS controls Android’s built-in Private DNS without creating a local VPN connection.
Device DNS controls need a one-time Shizuku or ADB permission. NextDNS dashboard access does not.

Why use a Private DNS toggle?
Turn Private DNS on or off from a Quick Settings tile when you need to troubleshoot a connection or temporarily pause your DNS provider’s filtering.
Does ADNS require root?
No. Device DNS controls need a one-time Shizuku or ADB permission. You can use the NextDNS dashboard without either.
Does ADNS create a VPN connection?
No. ADNS controls Android’s built-in Private DNS, which uses DNS-over-TLS. It does not create a local VPN connection.
What does Wi-Fi automation do?
ADNS pauses Private DNS on Wi-Fi networks whose names exactly match your saved rules, then restores the DNS state it paused when you leave.
